DAY 7 (PM) MONDAY 11th AUGUST 2025

Today was the best day I have had in a long time. It was highlighted by working 7.30am-1.30pm without looking at my phone, without distractions, and without eating any food.

This was a great day and if I did this every day, there is no doubt my business would turn around.

Below is a summary of how the day unfolded

  • I started off very flat and tired and within the first 30 minutes didn’t know how I was going to get through the day
  • The first hour was about settling in and there were signs from my body telling me to get food, to stop working etc, but I ignored all of those feelings and just committed to the work
  • Once I got through 1.5 hours, I was feeling much better and the work started coming much more easily.
  • 2 hours in I started doing a task which I hate, and this sent me into a negative spiral. I actually went to go do 15 minutes meditation to calm my mind but 3 minutes in the solution for the difficult task came to me so I came back to my desk and solved it
  • Once the task above was solved, I felt unbelievable. I told myself how glad I am that I stuck to it and pushed through

Keys:

  • Feelings are temporary and we can act in conflict to how we feel
  • How do we know we’re right when we assign meaning to feelings e.g. today I thought I was hungry but that feeling could’ve been excitement or nerves. I didn’t give in to eating and the feeling disappeared after a while.
  • Once all distractions are removed, focusing for long periods becomes so much easier.

I’m needing to drum up more business and currently I’m quite high on networking and have started my Guide “Network Like Crazy” which is just my experiences networking. I am aware that talking to people and meeting people is going to increase my profile, and then I just need to keep working on making the business better.

There were a few incidents yesterday which reinforced the importance of this:

  • Went to see a professional for an injury I have. I already had a relationship with him from the Golf Club but when I was there he mentioned he was keen to change accountants
  • Responded to a cold email I received and we exchanged a few emails back and forth. Ended up connecting on LinkedIn, and he put me in touch with a marketing person he uses

I love the idea of doing 6 productive hours in the morning, and then using the afternoon to Network Like Crazy to make connections and get my name out there a bit more
